The bleeding edge technology and some applications will be discussed in
this talk. With explosive growth of the Internet, Web users suffer from
irrelevant Web search results, non-personalized Web information, fraud e-Business
transactions, and even wrong Web based decisions. Therefore, a significant
need exists for a new generation of techniques with the ability to intelligently
and automatically assist users in finding useful Web information and Web
knowledge and making smart Web decisions. Such important technology is the
subject of the emerging hybrid field of intelligent technology and Web technology.
Because intelligent Web techniques are useful for e-Business applications,
intelligent Web systems have received a great deal of attention among large
corporations, industrial research labs and universities recently. Thus it
is necessary and urgent to develop new intelligent Web techniques for Web-based
applications on the wired and wireless networks.
Yan-Qing Zhang received a Ph.D. degree in computer science and engineering
at the University of South Florida, Tampa, in 1997. He is currently an Assistant
Professor of the Computer Science Department at Georgia State University,
Atlanta. His research interests include computational intelligence, neural
networks, fuzzy logic, evolutionary computation, knowledge discovery and
data mining, computational Web intelligence, mobile wireless intelligent
agents, and digital library. He has published two book chapters and over
70 research papersin journals and conferences. He is also the co-author
of a book "Compensatory Genetic Fuzzy Neural Networks and Their Applications"
published in 1998. Dr. Zhang is a member of IEEE, ACM and the Young Researchers
Committee of World Federation on Soft Computing.
