Topic: ESL and SystemC: What are they? Why use them?

Abstract: ESL, Electronic System Level design and methodology, has become the latest "buzz word" for the development community. ESL has the potential to drastically affect your job in a hardware, software, or architecture group. Speaker Jack Donovan will define ESL and provide insight into how it will change companies that develop large complex electronic systems composed of embedded software and complex hardware. The presentation will cover the following topics.

  • SystemC, A Language for ESL
Bio: Jack Donovan is the co-author of SystemC: From the Ground Up, a "best selling" book on SystemC; and he is a co-founder of ESLX, a consulting company that specializes in Electronic System Level (ESL) design and SystemC. ESLX's customers include companies of various sizes from Fortune 500 companies to start ups. Jack has over 20 years of broad engineering and management experience at various companies in Silicon Valley and Austin, TX. He has been a team member or a manager for well over twenty ASIC's. Jack is the chairman of the North American SystemC User's Group and he is a regular speaker at conferences as a panel member or tutorial presenter. He has a BEE and MSEE from Georgia Tech.
Directions: Even though TI's Forest Lane site has been given a new official entrance address at 12500 TI Boulevard and been renamed as TI's "South Campus," find our Dallas IEEE CS meetings just as you've always done. Head to the site's SouthEast (SE) entrance off Forest Lane JUST west of Greenville Avenue. Preferred parking is at extreme SE corner of the building. Enter the public lobby at building's SE corner and ask guard to direct you to conference rooms S-1/S-2 (very near this entrance).  (See map.)
Cost: Technical Presentation:  FREE to both IEEE CS Members and the general public.
